Please Welcome   Our  Lady is Down  Featured Artist of The Month

From the UK  its Blades 123

Blades 123 is one the Internet's most talented masters of 3D art using the tools of DAZ Studio/Poser to create amazing life accurate 3D one theme scene of DiD artwork

His work feature the perils of a young damsel in distress, with amazingly detailed scenes and props that capture a cinematic image of what life would have been like in Biblical to Medieval Times

TLD: How do' Sir? and thanx for the 3D artwork you've shared with us here at The Lady is Down What made you join DA ?

Blades: Thank you! I blundered in to dA by accident basically, but I was delighted by the levels of feedback and encouragement I got here. People respond to and comment upon stuff to a far greater extent here.

TLD: Can you share with us the history behind how you got started using DAZ/Poser ?

Blades: I remember seeing 3d art and being so impressed by what was becoming possible, that if wanted to give it a go. I bought Poser 5 (yes it was that long ago!) and was hooked.

TLD: Most of your Damsels in Distress Artwork, women in perril in Ancient, biblical, and Medieval times. Where does your character inspiration come from ?

Blades No one specific source. I've always loved pulp art and it's utterly unrealistic, but extremely sexy depictions of gorgeous gals in peril, so that's the direction most of my stuff takes.

TLD: So why 3D and not Traditional Art ?

Blades Very simple: I have absolutely no drawing/painting talent whatsoever. I have nothing but respect and more than a little envy for those who do have it !

TLD: About your clothing, props and scenes, amazing attention to detail in a object rich 3D environment. Are these purchased from the web or your own creation ?

Blades A bit of both, but mostly either purchased, or obtained free from one of the many great sites which provide excellent freebie props/figures for Poser.

TLD: Are the render times significantly large for one scene
Blades I guess an average render time for one of my images would be around half an hour to an hour.

TLD: Your art, photography history, are you formally trained or self taught?

Blades Nope, no formal training, although I have read plenty of great tutorials online since taking up the hobby.

TLD: Are you able to produce 3D effects first shot with the render engine alone or done with after processing? (PhotoShop, DigiMod, etc)

Blades I actually do very little post work on my stuff, apart from framing and sometimes a little light touching up using GIMP.

TLD: Fave rendering software ?

Blades Poser Pro 2014.

TLD: Amazing backgrounds to your shots, the realism really "sells" the shot and provides a cinematic mood.do you adapt the detail from motion pictures

Blades Thank you! More often than not the type of background/environment I need springs from the story or situation I'm portraying, rather than from a specific inspiration, like a film or book.

TLD: Any funny stories that cam up during your creations ?

Blades Erm.......nope, not really!

TLD: Who is your favorite comic artist?

Blades Wow, difficult one.....I guess, Brian Bolland, his work on Judge Dredd in particular was just stunning.

TLD: Who is your favorite action movie director/producer?

Blades Mmmmm....don't really have one, although I do admire most of what Joss Whedon has done, both on TV and in film.

TLD: Last Question. Any advice for those wishing to enter the world of 3D art rendering and illustration ?

Do it! It can be a bit expensive, and it's easy to become demoralised: I guarantee that your first stuff will be terrible, and like anything, it will take practice and effort. But it really is satisfying to be able to make your ideas come to life.

One of my long-time favorites!  The stark lighting and the realistic textures, combined with such eye-catching scenarios, are inspiring!  Great to see his talent recognized!
